Bacolod councilor receives most outstanding award in Iloilo

Councilor Claudio Jesus Raymundo “Kalaw” A. Puentevella from Bacolod City received one of the awards for this year’s Most Outstanding Men and Women of Western Visayas organized by “Keep on Talking” in SM City Iloilo over the weekend.

Known for his famous tagline “Abyan sang Tanan”, Councilor ‘Kalaw’ Puentevella presently Chairs the Sangguniang Panlungsod committees on Health & Sanitation, Environment & Ecology, and Energy & Public Utilities.

Puentevella is a staunch advocate of good governance in accord with transparency and public accountability and against corruption.

Keep On Talking started as a popular Iloilo-based cable television talk show hosted by Mr. Jorge Favila Lopera twelve years ago and eventually transformed into a non-government organization award-giving body aimed at recognizing those who stand out in their fields of expertise in WV.

Thirteen individuals came from the fields of politics, government agency heads, a medical doctor, and businessmen. Among the awardees outside Iloilo include Mayor Daph Anthony Reliquias from the Municipality of Hinoba-an and Puentevella.

Mr. Lopera who visited Bacolod around two months ago had observed that Puentevella emerged as a shining beacon true to his nickname ‘Kalaw’, an endemic hornbill species referred to as the clock-of-the-mountains due to its loud hourly booming call.

For Puentevella, he was grateful for the most outstanding award which is a testament to his hard work and sincere service as a legislator. This award will inspire and motivate him to do more, to do his best, and to achieve the most in improving the lives of the Bacolodnons.*
